Iowa State Capitol and Historical Museum Field Trip

Our tour guide, Marilyn, was very informative on our tour at the Iowa State Capitol Building!
The students were intrigued by the governor's office in this picture.

The library was one of the class' favorite places on the tour!  You could have heard a pin drop...they were so respectful in the quiet environment despite their amazement!

Going up the stairs to the dome was another highlight of the trip!  This picture is funny in that it shows some students  looking down to the bottom far below while some are staying WAY BACK from that railing!

What a gorgeous day for our  field trip in downtown Des Moines!

Maple Grove 4th Graders in front of their beautiful state capitol!

After lunch, we walked to the Iowa Historical Museum.

With the help of wonderful parent volunteers, we were able to form small groups to tour the Historical Museum.

Jeremiah and Brandon had some fun "interacting" with the blown-up posters of people in the Iowa caucus exhibit!

With the help of the Harrison family in lining it up, we were able to end our day with a speech from Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds!  What a privilege!
