Rock Cookie recipes

Sedimentary Six:

Melt 1/2 cup peanut butter with 1 package of butterscotch chips.  Put 1 box Chex cereal in a large bowl, and pour melted mixture over the top.  Stir in 1 package mini chocolate chips.  Pour into a waxpaper-lined pan, and put in the fridge to cool. Break into chunks when serving.

The mixture represents the layers of sediments that come together to form sedimentary rocks.

Marble Munchies:

Melt 16 oz. almond bark for three minutes, stirring often.  Melt 1 package chocolate chips.  Pour the melted almond bark on a waxpaper-lined cookie sheet, and spread out.  Dab in melted chocolate, and swirl it into the almond bark.  Cool in the fridge. Break into chunks when serving.

The mixture represents the intense heat and pressure that forms metamorphic rocks.

Rocky Rice:

Melt 1/3 cup butter with 1 10 oz. package marshmallows.  Put 6 1/2 cups crispy rice cereal in a large bowl.  Pour the melted mixture over the cereal, and stir.  Form into balls for serving.

The mixture represents the quick cooling of lava that forms igneous rocks, especially one particular igneous rock called pumice. Pumice is full of air pockets that make it so light weight it can float on water!
